Stocking Rate Estimation: Domestic Animals
This page may take a few moments to load.
Directions: This interactive spreadsheet is intended as an exploratory tool to help you estimate the number of domestic animals you can graze within a specific pasture or section of land over a specific period of time. You must know 1) how many acres of land you have, 2) the amount of forage that is available, and 3) the amount of forage (percentage) that you will allow the animals to graze. The yellow boxes at the top are provided for you to enter your own information. You will need to double click in the box to activate the spreadsheet so that you can enter data. The Green boxes will automatically calculate for you. If you are having difficulty determining a stocking rate please consider contacting a local state extension agent for assistance.
